We realised that we are creating something called the feeling of home. Whether in your actual home or travelling, home isn’t just a physical space; it’s a sense of cosiness and familiarity. When we travel and unpack a few of our mugs or a tea towel in an unfamiliar place, it instantly brings that warm, cosy, homely feeling. This is what we want In August Company to be. Recently, when visitors from abroad come to our studio, we often explain our name – it means being in good company, whether of people or things. We want to keep it like that: the instant warmth and feeling of home.
Think of essentials, maybe even uniformity. Warm tones with our signature blue or black. The rawness of materials, like linen and stoneware, and the hand-crafted feeling. Imagine the feeling after a walk on a windy Nordic beach when you make a cup of delicious coffee or tea. That’s the essence of In August Company.

But just as your home makes you feel good, it can sometimes feel a bit boring, and you need the yang to your yin. That’s when the unknown and exciting places come in: hot summer Italian beaches, crowded cafés, noisy scooters, old Fiat Pandas everywhere, and dinners starting at 10 pm. We love that too, but for us, it’s just for holidays. You come back energised and can still smell the fresh vegetables, fruits, and fish at the local market.

That’s why we created Sunfolk Market: to express ourselves, try different things, create a collection, and maybe not go back in the same direction next time. It is the opposite of In August Company in the best way possible: very expressive, very free, and without any limits, but produced in limited editions.
By embracing both worlds, we offer a balance: the comforting feeling of home and the exciting spirit of adventure.
