We are excited to invite you to a special workshop at In August Company’s studio in Dejvice. Jan Rubín from Tea Mountain will guide you through the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of matcha and other teas, and learn you how to prepare perfect foamy Matcha.

The workshop will take place at Dr. Zikmunda Wintra 791/17, Praha 6, last about two hours, and be conducted in Czech.

Attendance is limited to 8 people.

Each guest will enjoy freshly prepared matcha with spring water, accompanied by sweet pastries, and leave with a matcha bowl of their choice to continue their rituals at home.

What’s it going to be about

This event is a continuation of the journey that we started with our Tea Ceremony collection more than 3 years ago and we’d love to invite you to our small morning Matcha Ritual hosted in our studio, during which Jan will guide us through how to properly prepare quality Ceremonial (Organic Japanese) Matcha Tea – in your ceramic bowl – with a bamboo whisk – chasen.
Having a bowl of quality matcha tea is Karolina’s favourite daily wellness activity, together with yoga and meditation. It’s simply one of her little joys in life. Organic Japanese Matcha Tea is not only super healthy and tastes great, but it’s also a lovely little moment of peace and a beautiful ritual for a better day.
Drinking matcha tea can have many health benefits, but the key factors are always its quality and colour and that’s why we would like to invite you to try the ritual and learn how to prepare the perfect cup of matcha with us.
Jan from Tea Mountain loves to talk about tea and its preparation. He knows everything about it and is a huge enthusiast. You’ll probably be as surprised as we were to find out that he’s also bringing his own water. It comes from a spring in the Jizera Mountains and it’s the best for making tea.

Matcha tea and its preparation

Karolína has been drinking matcha tea for a few years now, and the only place she goes for the best quality matcha in Prague is Tea Mountain. We like their philosophy, we like the space of their small shop in Karlin, and we really appreciate the humility with which they work with tea as an ingredient and the culture they build around it. Walking into their shop immediately transports you somewhere else, it feels like a little trip to the land of Tea. We are very excited to offer their small selection of green tea and Organic Matcha in our showroom.

Choosing your own tea bowl – Chawan

Matcha is usually prepared and drunk from a ceramic tea bowl called a chawan. At this event you will be able to choose your own matcha bowl and learn how to properly whisk the matcha powder, prepare the tea and also enjoy it afterwards. The bowl you choose will be yours to take home.

The matcha powder is whisked with a special bamboo whisk (chasen), with hot water until it is smooth with foam on the surface to make a frothy green tea full of unique health benefits and great taste.

Quality of matcha tea

However, preparing good matcha is not always so easy when you don’t know the craft of whisking and you’re not using the finest quality ceremonial matcha tea.
High-quality ceremonial matcha tea has a complex flavour profile with a sweet and earthy nutty flavour, subtle vegetal and grassy notes, as well as a hint of sharp acidity with a pleasant spicy finish.
The described pleasant savoury combination of flavours is referred to as umami, which makes matcha tea irresistible to drink, while also making it an incredibly dynamic ingredient to use in the kitchen for cooking and baking.
We will also be serving butter sesame cookies to make the morning even more enjoyable.

What is included in the price?
MATCHA BOWL of your choice (you can choose from a variety of sizes and designs in our studio – there will be lots to choose from), which will be your companion for your personal rituals at home.
Matcha whisking and workshop, matcha tea that you will drink at the event, prepared with water from the spring (yes, really).
Cookies or sweet pastries and great fun in our company.

p.s. After the event, you can stay in our studio and chat some more, or buy tea and matcha to take home, or continue with your day invigorated by the best matcha you’ve ever had – we can promise you that.
