Wheel throwing pottery is a technique used to shape clay on a hand or electric potter’s wheel. It is known as the most common method for creating symmetrical, cylindrical, and rounded forms and objects. While the pottery wheel enables the creation and replication of pieces relatively quickly, it remains a highly artisanal craft. As a result, each piece is subtly unique, reflecting the individual style and shaping preferences of the potter, even when attempting to create identical pieces.
